Synopsis
For the past fifty years, rock radio has been America's revolutionary
medium.
It blasted black music to white America in the 50's, progressive rock to
fan the
|fires of the 60's, the black rage of hip-hop in the Reagan-era 80's.
But, pioneers
were often censored or thrown off the air for challenging the
establishment. Today,
the satellite revolution empowers listeners to hear what
they want without interference,
or does it? Airplay is a story of love and war,
the ongoing struggle between radio
pioneers and powerful business, political and
religious institutions for the soul of
music radio.
